Hi there! I'm Thyra (say Teer-ah). I grew up in Byram Township, visiting forests, lakes, and streams that grace beautiful Sussex County. Growing up, my grandparents had sheep and my family had chickens. I was able to walk through the woods over to their house.
As a 90s kid there was no shortage of what we could do. Boredom? What was that? We read our books, played, and got outside. Summers were spent with friends at Cranberry Lake and Forest Lakes. We paddle boated and fished for sunnies, hiked looking for blueberries and mushrooms, and loved the crunch of leaves under our boots. We visited (and still visit!) local farms for fresh eggs, flowers, and ice cream.
After being surrounded by such beauty, it is sure fitting that I have my degree in Botany from Rutgers University. I worked for Morris County as a gardener and educator. After my daughter was born, I I got a certification in Early Childhood Education and also substitute teach at local schools. On the weekends, you can find me vending at local pop ups and farmers markets with my hand burned pyrography.
I am so excited to be your new Publisher, and look forward to bringing you the scoop on Sussex County.

Thyra
